COVID-19 Updates

Unfortunately today is a day that weighs heavily on all of us here at Firecracker Sports. After several meetings late last week and finally hearing today from Rhode Island state officials about the ongoing health pandemic, we are postponing our Memorial Day Patriotic Bash event until July 1st-3rd, 2020.  We remain optimistic we will be able to host at that time of year, with improved and enhanced safety measures for players, coaches and spectators during our longest running event. If you are attending this event, please see the following updates and preparations we have taken care of.
  • All 8U-12U teams have been moved to our 4th of July Showcase Tournament for pool play and championship on July 3rd, 2020. You do NOT need to do anything to secure your spot. All final payments are now due by May 31st.
  • For all 13U & 14U teams that are registered and paid…please fill out the form on our COVID-19 page to move your registration to any event we are hosting in 2020 including sold out events. We will expand to honor your requests.
  • If you are a 13U or 14U team registered for Memorial Day and not paid as of today (4.27.20), your registration is now null and void. No other actions are needed at this time.
  • If you purchased the Youth Instructional Camp, you have been refunded 100% of your fees back to your original form of payment.
  • If you purchased tickets to our Pawtucket Red Sox BBQ/Fireworks night, you have been refunded 100% of your fees back to your original form of payment.
  • Regarding hotels…if you booked with us, no worries as all hotel reservations have been canceled and no payments have been processed. To book for our 4th of July timeframe, unfortunately you will have to book through our hotel page by clicking on the 4th of July event page.
  • If you booked on your own or directly with the hotel, you are on your own!

2020 Tournament Information

1st ever “Memorial Day Patriotic Bash” presented by Firecracker Sports 

Youth Instructional Camp: CANCELED

Age groups: 8U/9U; 10U; 11U; 12U; 13U and 14U (6 Divisions)

Pool Play: POSTPONED until July 1st – 2nd
Playoffs/Championships: POSTPONED until July 3rd
  • This will be a sellout like our other spring/summer events! Don’t wait to get your spot…
  • In 2019 we hosted 390+ teams in our spring/summer events which were sold out by Christmas, 2020 we are anticipating more than 450+ teams!
  • Registration for this tournament: 8U-12U will be $900 ($700 before 10.1.19; $800 before 11.1.19) and for the 13U & 14U it will be $999.00, which includes bringing a box of game baseballs to your first game.
  • We offer multi-team/event discounts, please inquire for more savings!
  • 4 game guarantee: Pool play format will be used with all teams (weather permitting).
  • Teams will be placed in pools, based solely on where they are from. We place teams from different areas against each other to allow the kids to play new teams.
  • All Umpires are High School board certified and we supply 2 for every game.
  • Preliminary round games will take place at area little league, high school and collegiate fields with the playoffs and championship games at college facilities.
  • We use the top fields in the Providence, RI area such as Brown University; URI; Bryant University; Rhode Island College and more for our events.
  • What else could we offer…well! We offer player and team video packages for programs looking to have their scout days during our event but also evaluations and “live in game video” of their players complied.
  • Want more….let’s discuss that we do on-field reporting/interviewing with players/coaches, live streaming of pool play games and all playoff/championships on You Tube TV, social media exposure, in game stats along with more exciting news to be announced shortly.

To insure the quality of service provided during Firecracker Sports events, there is a Hotel Obligation Policy.

WHAT IS A “HOTEL OBLIGATION” TOURNAMENT?

Simply stated, if your team requires hotel accommodations (team traveling 75 miles or more to the event’s destination city) your team MUST stay at one of the approved participating tournament partner hotels. These participating hotels are reviewable by clicking on the “hotel” links on the tournament event page or on the main page of Firecracker Sports. Reservations can be made prior to being accepted and should be made ASAP as the hotels fill up quick.  

WHY DOES THIS TOURNAMENT HAVE A “HOTEL OBLIGATION?”

We work very hard to keep our costs down and also balance the economic impact a tournament like ours can have towards the communities and programs we serve. The approved hotels on this website assist with both concerns and the following are the benefits to our programs:

  • To make it manageable we have room nights “blocked” for our out-of-town teams from our participating tournament partner hotels.
  • Because we do not use a Third Party Housing Group and we negotiate large blocks of rooms with the hotels directly, you’ll find a wide variety of best pricing and amenities from our hotels.
  • Care in selecting location and proximity to our playing field. See our “fields/facilities” tab to find out where your team most likely will be playing so you can lock down hotels near your fields.
  • All of our tournament hotels have been approved due to their quality and desire to give our guests the best event experience.
  • Room inventory which is shared with the tournament to ensure that room demands can be met from year to year.
  • By using participating tournament partner hotels, Firecracker Sports can offer our “Act of God” Clause. This states “Should this event be cancelled for reasons beyond the Event Organizer’s control (including weather), all outstanding reservations will be released at no charge to the participants.”

WHY ARE THERE PENALTIES FOR NOT ABIDING BY OUR HOTEL “HOTEL OBLIGATION” POLICY?

In order to best serve our out-of-town teams we need this to be a win-win for our guest teams and our hotel partners…If the rules are not followed then we jeopardize our relationships with these hotels and this could potentially add more costs to the teams.

WHAT ARE THE PENALTIES FOR NOT FOLLOWING OUR POLICY?

  • Any accepted team to the 2020 tournament(s) who requires overnight accommodations and does not stay in one of our approved partner hotels will not be accepted to the tournament.
  • An accepted team to the 2020 tournament(s) who requires overnight accommodations and double books their team at more than one hotel will not be accepted to the tournament or will be removed from the tournament.
  • Teams who do not stay in our partner hotels will risk forfeiting their games and not be allowed to return to the tournament next year.

WHAT IF OUR TEAM DOES NOT GET ACCEPTED AND WE HAVE A HOTEL RESERVATION?

Teams will be able to cancel their hotel reservation if they are not accepted to the tournament.

Pawtucket Red Sox BBQ/Fireworks Night

Open to all participants, families, coaches and friends of the Memorial Day Patriotic Bash presented by Firecracker Sports. We have partnered with the Pawtucket Red Sox to bring you our Barbecue/Fireworks night on May 23rd! We love to hold social events during our tournaments, to allow us to interact and get to know our coaches, student athletes and families. This isn’t always about the play on the field that brings us together for these events but the mutual love for the game of baseball.
Saturday, May 23rd’s Event Schedule
4:00PM-6:15PM: All you can eat barbecue/drinks
5:45PM: Pre game ceremonies with teams represented on the field.
6:00PM Ceremonial 1st pitch presented by a special guest of the
4th of July Showcase Tournament (look for that special contest soon!)
6:15PM Pawtucket Red Sox vs. Syracuse Mets game begins
9:00PM-9:30PM: Game ends and you will be able to enter the field area to watch the fireworks display from beyond the RF grandstands.

2020 Fields & Facilities

We try to give all our student athletes and their families a first class experience by securing and enabling all our teams to play on the top facilities here in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. We would like to see all our teams play all their pool play and playoff games on top fields, including collegiately and professional stadiums.

As you can see from the list below most of our divisions are exclusively played on collegiate fields including playoffs and Championships for our 8U/9U through 14U Divisions. These younger divisions are given these unique playing opportunities which has become increasingly rare for other tournament providers. These fields and facilities are tentatively scheduled to host in 2020  please inquire about your pool play location before securing your hotels and travel plans through our in house hotel booking system.

2020 Tournament Schedule

We work on releasing our schedules 2 MONTHS prior to any event we host and run throughout the calendar year. Once our event becomes full we begin to put the teams, fields and pool play together so you can plan your trip better to Providence, Rhode Island. This allows everyone to plan in advance their hotels, social events but also let the college programs you are interested in, know your playing times if they are interested in attending.

We try to maintain first class customer service from the point of registration, all the way through our final Championship game of our events, so your experience always remains first class!

We have partnered with another valued member in the baseball industry, Tournament Machine to make your experience even better. Now you can see scores, schedules and standings right from your mobile device as soon as the games are concluded. No more calls, emails to find out where, when and who you are playing. Through our app and Tournament Machine, you can find the GPS location of fields, get notified of time changes, incase of inclement weather but more importantly know where your team is placed for standings after your wins or unfortunately, losses.
